The current FADER icon issue, is about Aaliyah. Read it. It makes you remember the great memories you had with her music. And it makes you remember, 'oh yeah she use to be with R. Kelly, how weird."
TheFader.com also put up a very nostalgic DJ Caps Aaliayh mix. Check it out.

Son of Rambow, which I saw last week at The Landmark. The trailer reminded me of Rushmore + Be Kind Rewind, where I was worried that it wouldn't have 'feel' to it, but it did. It even made me cry. In a good way. We don't get to cry in a good way enough.
Natural Born Killers. I never watched the movie. Thinking back I don't think I was allowed to. SO we bought the director's cut this week at Amoeba for $9.99. And I freaken loved it. Where scenes keep on replaying in my head.
Ashkahn will be guest-speaking
at RCC Riverside, Art Room 101

first, head over to the abacot gallery in chinatown. a few of my art center buddies are showing, and another friend spinning house from 6-11PM.
then head over to the show at unitard shown below and grab some free bushmills till you get a decent buzz.
top off your night and head back to chinatown for black disco at the mountain bar. $5 cover. bring your dancing shoes.
wake up hungover tomorrow and then get the greasiest mexican food ever and grab a beer to get your head straight.
stay in all day and play GTA and/or watch the playoffs.
and lets discuss the bboy events from last week. here are some pictures from last week's killa4nia 7 year anniversary:
congrats to papa smurf for winning 1st place and kane for getting 2nd place. both bboys got a year sponsorship from tribal and eVocal.
my favorite part of the night was when Lil'Rock did a screening for his upcoming video project. it was like a hip hop "be kind rewind" scene.
it was my first time at the store. and dude, its a pretty cool store. i just loved the space of it, the art around the store, and even their restroom was nicely designed. they've been throwing a lot of events there lately. so yeah check out their myspace for more info and what nots: www.myspace.com/evocal

If you've never gone to a comedy show, UCB Theatre is the place to go. Most people don't know about this place, thankfully, unless they're into the whole "alt comedy" thing or are super cool, just one of those two. The shows featured in this place are scheduled 7 days a week, never cost more than eight dollars max aaaannnnd there's no drink minimum, no cover and always cool, innovative lineups in the mix.
Comedy Death Ray happens every Tuesday and is my favorite night. For the low, low price of five American dollars, you too can bear witness to a magic so strong, some might call it a death ray. The night consists of a usually all-star lineup of comedians performing in a small, almost personal, room, telling new jokes, old jokes and awkward stories involving their penises somehow getting caught in light sockets... Laaadies? The Comedians of Comedy, the Sklar brothers, Jesus: all have been a part of this great night.
The point is, this will be a great night. Doug Benson is an awesome comedian and cowrote the marijuanalogues. Dana Gould was on the Ben Stiller show and was executive producer for the Simpsons for many years. Brendon Small can shred on a guitar aaannnnd is responsible for both Metalocalypse and Home Movies. Ed Helms, Andy Daly, Craig Anton... There are so many reasons for you to check this show out. So many in fact, I'll stop.
may is the official bike to work month, so if any of you out there have a bicycle, put some air in those tires and bike to work!
in correlation with bike to work month, the city of pasadena has a bike week planned running may 12th through the 17th.
highlights include several guided bike tours, a bike commuter expo, and an official bike pit stop at the recently opened whole foods on arroyo parkway.
